Projects
The request from the Coal Valley Mine was focused on dozer support to help regrade Pit 124 to an approved 2:1 slope specification targeting wildlife habitat creation.
Solution
The project involved dozing approximately 400,000 bcm of material which was achieved by utilizing two D10’s and one D11 dozer. The dozers were transported from our Sheerness Mine and were utilized for 8-weeks. Over this period, 8 operators worked a one week-on, one week-off rotation, alternating day and night shifts. A mechanic was on-call during the dozing operation to provide repairs and preventative maintenance.
Results
The project finished ahead of schedule, allowing the WestMET ERS team to complete additional site reclamation work focused on levelling a reject dump. Coal Valley Mine achieved the reclamation reduction that covered the additional work scope.
